Information:

The OST for Samurai Deeper Kyo, Capriccio was performed by the Jukaiku Kyouso Orchestra. Two of the tracks had lyrics performed by Yuiko Tsubokura (Bubblegum Crisis, Kimagure Orange Road)Capriccio was mastered by Hiroyuki Tsuji from the King Sekiguchidai Studio.

Overview:

Samurai Deeper Kyo is an Anime isn't about any ordinary samurai, but the legendary criminal Demon Eyes Kyo. In order to compliment this legend, there needs to be a great soundtrack bringing out drama and adrenaline when needed. Capriccio is exactly that, with a rock theme. There is more than just a beat and guitar sound to this OST, including a whole orchestra full of instruments and synthesized sounds!

Performance:

The music has a rock theme, yet since an orchestra was involved, has a much bolder and full feel to it. Capriccio contains tracks with fast and heavy beats which help bring in an adrenaline rush for the fight scenes, but also contains slower paced lighter sounding tracks for the mellow scenes. There are even a few tracks that give a more pop rock feel to it, like Love DeeperYuiko Tsubokura sounded great in the tracks that she was featured in.

Lyrics:

The lyrics were in Japanese except for a couple words. I did not have to worry about searching and figuring out what they were, as Capriccio came with the lyrics in Japanese and translated in English. As with translations, it can sometimes sound a bit funny when you read them. These were kept to a minimum though had a couple of noticeable phrases. If you do not know the words, you shouldn't have any problem as they are fun to listen to.

Key Tracks:

#4 Get Excited: Definitely makes you feel like you are about to fight an opponent who just doesn't quite know how strong you really are.

#6 Footstep: Has a jungle music feel to it, with plenty of drums and percussion beating fast.

#11 First Death Match: Is exactly as it's name implies, First Death Match is an amped up theme for a 'boss battle'!

#13 Sad Story: With the slow piano melody, Sad Story Definitely lives up to it's name.

#19 Second Death Match: Starts out slow, then breaks into a bit of a rock theme at the end. I really liked the bass line during the rock half.

#21 For Those Waiting to Square Off For a Fight: This one is kind of slow with a nice up and down bell melody to it.

#25 Determination: The sound to this gives off a valiant feel to it, showing a lot of the orchestra in it.

#28 Memories: Nice and melodic throughout, giving a bit of a 'time to make a decision while under pressure' feel.

#29 LOVE DEEPER: The ending theme to Samurai Deeper Kyo. This is one

of the tracks featuring Yuiko Tsubokura, has a pop feel to it and just sounds great!

Conclusion:

From the beginning sequence to the end of the cast, I was captivated by how great the soundtrack was. When I saw the opportunity to get my hands on a copy, I jumped at it as quickly as I could! By the time it reached my hands and found it's way to my CD player, I was quite relieved from the sheer anticipation of hearing every track on the album! I enjoyed watching Samurai Deeper Kyo, and thoroughly enjoyed listing to the OST: Capriccio.
