Video: 8

The animation was mostly smooth, but you can tell that some frames are not there. This doesn’t take away from the show, but actually helps it keep its sense of comedy. Character designs are interesting, cute and somewhat varied.

Sound: 10

The English voice actors did an excellent job. They even sounded quite like the original Japanese voice actors, including side characters. The Japanese voice actors were excellent as well, making a pleasurable watch in either language.

Subtitles: 8

The subtitles were composed of a medium yellow font, and a medium black outline. I had absolutely no problems reading them over the original video. The biggest difference between watching in English or Japanese is the script. The dialogue was completely changed, mostly to make the songs rhyme, and for the series to make more sense for the English viewers.

Overall: 9.3

Nerima Daikon Brothers is an anime filled with lots of songs and has a running theme that reminds me quite a lot of the Blues Brothers. They also used lots of other parody references throughout the show. The extras were actually pretty good, too! The ADVid-notes mimicked the VH1 pop up videos, and the commentaries were quite funny. The Music video was also a live action version, dressed as the characters, of course. There, however, was a lot of suggestive humor not suitable for smaller children. It was also stated; the show had to be edited a bit when it was broadcasted on TV.
